Wickstrom’s Learning & Teaching Blog

“By learning you will teach, by teaching you will learn.”

Who am I as a learner?

Wikipedia defines learning as acquiring new knowledge, behaviors, skills, values, preferences or understanding, and may involve synthesizing different types of information.

One of my favourite Latin proverbs reads, “

What I like about this proverb is that it gives meaning and significance to every action in our lives because at any given point we are learning or teaching.  The main idea is that there are two sides, when you are learning you are teaching and when you’re teaching you are learning.  When you are teaching you are learning about yourself, your material, your students, and the process.  When you’re learning your teaching future generations through our common shared knowledge because as more people add certain things to their knowledge bank that bank grows and becomes more prevalent and more influential.

One of the richest examples of teaching through learning is current. Since I began as a teacher I have learned that there is always room for improvement and growth and even in the process of writing this assignment I am learning how to become a better teacher. Through these presentations or any presentation I am learning the material and then teaching it to my classmates.
